Michael Wayne (Sr) Wilbanks

Michael Wilbanks, 66, of Fayetteville, passed away on Sunday.

Mr. Wilbanks worked for a number of years for Lincoln County Schools where he drove a bus and was a custodian at Unity Junior High School. After working for the school system, he drove a truck until his retirement.  He will be remembered for his work ethic and for always being a hard worker. Michael was a Christian, a great dad, and a fantastic husband.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gail Wilbanks; His parents, Marvin & Annie B. Wilbanks of Hazel Green, Alabama;   His brother, David Wilbanks of Hazel Green; His sisters, Shirley Wilbanks of Hazel Green, Alabama and Elizabeth Turk of New Market.

Surviving family members include his children: Michael Wayne (April) Wilbanks Jr, Kym Phelps, Shane (Missy) Wilbanks, Daniel (Ashley) Wilbanks, and Joseph (Jessica) Wilbanks;  He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; His siblings: Marvin "Bud" and Shirley Wilbanks, Judy and Don Keller; Sue and Ken Moss; Betty and David Compton, Jackie and Janice Wilbanks, Johnny and Debbie Wilbanks, Darlene and David Lueneburg, Scottie Wilbanks, and Bob Wilbanks; He is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Kaye Maxwell.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12 until 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 2pm at the funeral home with Rev. Tommy Frady officiating.  Burial will be in Wright Cemetery.
