Mr. Joe Lasater, 72, of Hazel Green, passed away on Wednesday evening at a local hospital. He was a life-long farmer and co-owner of Lasater Farms.

Mr. Lasater attended Hazel Green High School and then obtained a degree in Agricultural Science from Auburn University in 1965. He was a former board member of the Madison County Farmer's Federation and was currently serving on the board of North Alabama Bank.

He loved to fish in his pond and spend time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Lasater; His 2 sons: Lee (Kenda) Lasater, and Scott (Melissa) Lasater; His five grandchildren: Lauren, Stone, Nathan, and Chandler Lasater, and Grayson Hughes; His brother: Carroll (Peggy) Lasater; His sisters: Hilda Linton, Ann (Harold) Baugh, and Mary Eula Summerlin. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milburn and Juanita Lasater.

The family will receive friends on Saturday beginning at 11am at the Hazel Green United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 2pm with Rev. Donald Conn officiating. Burial will follow in Charity Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hazel Green United Methodist Church.
