Mr. Paul Edward Perry, 81 of New Market, Alabama, died February 6, 2015. He was born June 20, 1933 in Plevna, Alabama to John and Johnnie (Simmons) Perry. He was a lifelong resident of the New Market Community.
He joined the Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean war but was granted an honorable discharge when needed at home to take care of his parents.
He married Dorothy Mills in 1955 and had been married 59 and a half years.
In his earlier years, he was worked at Double Cola, Pepsi Cola, and was self-employed as a logger for several years. He worked for the past 35 years at Moss Lumber Company in Gurley, Alabama. He loved working there and had maintained full-time employment up until his death. His love for his job is what kept him going.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy L. Perry; Sons, John Paul and Sherrie Perry, and David and Gwen Perry; Daughter, Elizabeth Ann and Dennis Mason; Grandchildren, Robin Carswell, Casey Gray, Lynsey Phelps, Trey Mason, and Rhiannon Pierce; Great-grandchildren: Katelyn and Madelyn Stout, River Moss, Avery Phelps, and Landon Pierce. Sister: Christine Hill and family; Father-in-law, Lether Mills; Special family, Moss Lumber Company and all of the logging community.
Funeral services will be Monday at 2pm at Oakley Baptist Church in Plevna. The body will lie in state from 1 until 2pm. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.
