Mr. William A. Hillis, 86, of New Market, passed away on Monday. Mr. Hillis was the son of the late Charlie and Reeda Cantrell Hillis and was a life-long farmer in Madison County.
He was preceded in death by his parents, by his son, Rodger Hillis, and by his siblings: L.S. Hillis, Marie Riddle, Myrtle Wildermuth, and Geneva Clemons.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Helen Marie Hillis; His daughter and son-in-law, Wilma and William McFarlen; His son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Gail Hillis; His sister, Faye Stiles.
10 Grandchildren: John McFarlen, Timothy McFarlen, Beth Holder, Emily Cagle, Jason Hillis, Jamie Hillis, Ginger Elkins, Jennifer Kersey, Dale Hillis, and Nathaniel Hillis.
13 Great-Grandchildren: Sydney Holder, Caitlyn McFarlen, Courtney McFarlen, Clara Cagle, Madeline Cagle, Sofia Cagle, Erica Hillis, Ashley Hillis, Will Hillis, Sheena Pope, Hunter Elkins, Alex Kersey, and Alaina Kersey.
Mr. Hillis is also survived by one great-great-granddaughter, Savannah Pope.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2pm at the funeral home with Michael McFarlen officiating. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery on Old Winchester Road in Plevna.
