Orris Patterson

Mr. Orris J. Patterson of Hazel Green, sometimes known as "O.J." passed away on Wednesday evening surrounded by his loving family. He was 88. Mr. Patterson had retired from Chrysler and was a Christian and member of Charity Baptist Church. He loved bluegrass music and was in a bluegrass group with his brothers for many years.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Patterson; His grandson, Michael Allen Patterson Jr; his parents, Clyde & Lena Mae Patterson; his siblings: J.C. Patterson, Earleen Stewart, Nadine Mullins, Ozella Kendrick, and Lowell Patterson.

Surviving family members include his sons, Joey Patterson and Mike Patterson Sr; his grandson, Trey & Kim Patterson; his great-grandchildren: Brandon Patterson (Kristen), Kylee Patterson, Joseph Patterson, and Jack Patterson; his great-great-grandchildren: Michael Sherill, Kendall Sherill, Cooper Patterson, Nova and Brody. his brother, Dickey Patterson (Faye).

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11am until 1pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Jerome officiating. Burial will then be in Charity Cemetery.

The family would like to extend special appreciation to the SouthernCare New Beacon Hospice care team and to Jacqueline and David Jones who took great care of Mr. Patterson.
