Ovie Wilson Lasater of Hazel Green went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning. She was 90. Mrs. Lasater was born and raised in Madison County, Alabama and remained in the community throughout her life. She was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a faithful member of Bevill's Chapel Baptist Church for many years, faithfully serving the Lord and encouraging all those she touched throughout her life.
Mrs. Lasater was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Lasater; Her daughter and son-in-law, Teresa Lynn & Billy Harris; Her parents, Mack & Bessie Kirby Wilson; her siblings: James Wilson, Thomas Wilson, Casto Wilson, Ed Wilson, Joe Wilson, Wade Wilson, Annie Robinson, and Mattie Belle Hicks; Her grandparents, N.K. & Flora Kirby and Henry & Annie Norris Wilson.
Surviving family members include her grandchildren: Cassie & Colin Jenkins and Dustin & Geriann Harris; her great-grandchildren: Chloe Jenkins and Colton Jenkins. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, church family, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5pm until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday at Noon at Bevill's Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Benny Berry officiating. Burial will follow the service and will be in Bevill's Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mrs. Lasater will be remembered for her sweet spirit, her kind hospitality and desire to cook for everyone who visited her home, and her love for all her family - babysitting and helping to raise many of the children in her extended family.
