Patricia Travis Hill of New Market went to be with the Lord on Saturday.   She was 87.   Mrs. Hill was a Christian, a member of New Market United Methodist Church, and was a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Hazel Green.    She was raised in Toney, lived much of her life in Hazel Green and was a 1953 graduate of Hazel Green High School,  then graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and received her MBA from Alabama A&M.    She was a proud part of the Towry Towery Association.

Patricia began working on Redstone Arsenal in 1957 and worked her way up from a secretarial position to logistics manager. Her career with the government spanned more than 40 years.  She  served as the first president of the Alabama Chapter of the National Organization for Women and had also served as a national board member.

Her hobbies included quilting, basket weaving, gardening, cooking, Alabama football and crossword puzzles. She loved to travel and had been all over the world.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Towry Travis; her sister, Betty Travis;  her brother, Dale Travis.

Surviving family members include her children:  Karen & Jerry Scott, Johnny & Kathy Hill, Nancie & Chris Jones, and Heidi & Russell Fowler;  Her grandchildren:

She is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren, her two sisters, Doris Towry and Joey Crick., and her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who she dearly loved.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday beginning at 4pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 6PM at the funeral home with Pastor Samuel Wilson officiating.   After cremation, burial will be in Moore Cemetery in Flintville.

The family would like to express special appreciation to Gentiva Hospice, Lauren and Virginia, and her special caregiver, Lynda Ricketts.
