Oct. 2, 1937-Dec. 6, 2022 Patsy Parks Kennedy of Hazel Green, Alabama passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2022. She was born October 2nd, 1937 in Salem, Kentucky and preceded in death by her husband, W.L. Kennedy; her parents Haskel and Ruby Parks; and her brother, Kenneth Parks. She is survived by: Daughters Kandace Lee Moore (Alan) and Cynthia Kennedy Thompson (Mark); Sons Gregory Lynn Kennedy (Jan) and Michael L Kennedy (Marie); Granddaughters Lindsey Nicole Westenhofer, Morgan Lynn McEvoy, Sarah Beth Thompson Earles, Claire Kennedy Bruce, Lauren Marie Kennedy, Mallory Kennedy Parkey and Hannah Leigh Kennedy; Grandsons Christopher Alan Moore, Justin Kennedy Thompson, Ross Matthew Thompson and Ryan Michael Kennedy; Great-Grandchildren Anna Gwenyth Westenhofer, Kaitlyn Nicole Westenhofer, William Curry McEvoy Jr., James Gregory McEvoy, Collins Francis Bruce, William Lee Thompson, Alvin Holt Nunley V, Cohen Michael Bruce, Devin L. Kennedy, and Wilks Romeyn Parkey.

Although Patsy’s love for her home state of Kentucky was forever evident, she developed a deep and abiding affection for the Hazel Green Community.  She was a member of the Hazel Green United Methodist Church. Patsy worked tirelessly as a parent volunteer and a trustee when her children were in school. She enjoyed serving the community as a rural mail carrier until her retirement at age 81.  The family was recently notified that Patsy and W.L. are to be inducted into the Alabama Boxing Hall of Fame. Visitation will be Sunday, December 11, 2022 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at the Hazel Green Funeral Home. The Funeral will be Monday, December 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Hazel Green Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts to the Moore's Mill Intermediate School Playground Fund. Memorials may be mailed to Moores Mill Intermediate School at 1210 Walker Lane, New Market, AL 35761. Affectionately known to many as Big Momma, she will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who knew her.
