One with Himself I cannot die. My soul is purchased by His blood. My life is hid with Christ on high; with Christ, my Savior and my God. With Christ, my Savior and my God.
Mrs. Patsy Williams Watts, age 79, passed away on June 18, 2017. She died peacefully while surrounded and held by her children and family. Patsy was born October 20, 1937, in Fayette, Alabama. She graduated from Fayette County High School and attended Freewill Baptist College. On December 29, 1957, Patsy married Rev. Wayne Sisson Watts of Hamilton, AL. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2013.
As the bride of a pastor, Patsy was a living representation of what the Bride of Christ is to be. She was a virtuous woman and a crown to her husband (Proverbs 12:4). Patsy was clothed with strength and with dignity. She was full of joy and lived her life fully without fear of the future (Proverbs 31:25). Patsy was a shepherd after her Lord’s own heart, and helped her husband minister to others with knowledge and understanding (Jeremiah 3:15) at churches throughout the southeast, including:
To the world, Patsy was the definition of an elegant southern lady. Her grandchildren often joked that if the roll was called up yonder, Patsy would be dressed in her best to meet Jesus. She was a gracious hostess, hospitable, and found joy in planning gatherings for her family and friends.
To her children, Patsy was a momma. She was the root and strength of her family. Often, pastors’ families are required to move; and Patsy and her family moved a lot. However, her children always felt at home no matter their location. Patsy had a gift for using what she had, to make any house a home. To her children, she was a living example of the heart of God, and taught them what it felt like to be safe at home in His embrace.
To her grandchildren, Patsy was an artist, seamstress, stylist, cheer leader, banana pudding and black-eyed peas maker, videographer, and confidant. No grandchild ever left her house without a full stomach, a hug, and a word of sound advice. She was their Grandmom, a title she never took lightly.
Patsy is survived by her daughter, Pam Lollar (Jim), her son, Randy Watts (Miranda), her daughter, Stephanie Hunter (Jeff), and grandchildren Bo Lollar, Katie Davidson (Jared), Kellie Lyon (Travis), Ben Lollar (Sarah), Andrew Watts (Katelyn), Jonathan Watts, Peter Watts, Abigail Rogers (Blake), Rachel Hunter, Rebecca Hunter (Drew), and great grandchildren Canon Rogers and Rebecca Davidson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Watts, her parents, John Williams and Gara Cobb Williams, and her, brothers Rayford and Phillip Williams.
Visitation and Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. and 1:00 p.m., respectively, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (Hamilton, AL). A graveside committal service will follow in the church cemetery.
