Reedus Moon

Mr. Reedus Moon, 82 , of New Market, passed away on Wednesday.   Mr. Moon grew up in the New Market area and attended Walnut Grove School and then graduated from New Market High School in 1958 - the school's last graduating class. He had retired from NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center after 35 years.

He was preceded in death by his son, Gregory Moon; His daughter, Phyllis Moon Sharp;  His son-in-law, Jackie Sharp; His sisters, Daisy York and Jean Byrd;  His parents: Monroe & Louise Moon.

Surviving family members include his wife of almost 63 years, Bobbie Berry Moon;  His son, Rodney Moon;  His daughter-in-law, Beverly Moon; His sisters: Marlene Waller, Carolyn Ashby, and Sandra (Terry) Johnson; His brothers:  Ted (Nancy) Moon, Dan (Becky) Moon, and Ricky (Sheila) Moon; 4 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Sunday beginning at 1pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will follow at 3pm at the funeral home with Pastor Benny Berry officiating.  Burial will then be in Taylor Cemetery on Butler Road in New Market.
