He married his wife Patsy Williams of Fayette, Alabama on December 29, 1957, and celebrated their 55 in 2012. A turning point in Rev. Wayne's life was his first sermon at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church in present day Hoover, AL for a Howard College H.Day program. Hands shaking, he wandered to the woods, stage frightened before his introduction. The Lord calmed his hands and laid Isaiah 6: 1-8 on his heart. Since that moment he never stopped spreading the Gospel of Christ with power and conviction. He was an example to his children and grandchildren of what a Godly man should be. He always had time to help others and was known as someone who always put others first. He cared more than others thought wise, risked more than others thought was safe, dreamed more than others thought practical, and expected more than others thought was possible. He was able to be right and not boast, wrong and not alibi, poor and not covet, successful and not strut.Fail and not quit, and be honored and modest. He could be hurt and forget it, criticized and take it. Tempted and resist it and was always honest even when it hurt. Rev. Wayne Watts was considered a true man of faith. He was strong. He treasured his relationships with his children and grandchildren and enjoyed "bribing" them with ice cream after any family photo shoot. He was an avid Auburn fan and enjoyed attending games with his son and grandsons. He taught his family what it was to love one another and to enjoy each other's company. He taught them the importance of family first.

His family rejoices today knowing that this is not the end and they will soon see him again with our Lord, Jesus Christ. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy, his daughter Pam Lollar (Jim), his son Randy Watts (Miranda), daughter Stephanie Hunter (Jeff) and grandchildren Bo Lollar, Katie Davidson (Jared), Kellie Lollar, Ben Lollar, Andrew Watts, Jonathan Watts, and Peter Watts, Abigail Rogers (Blake), Rachel Hunter, and Rebecca Hunter.
