Mr. Robert "Bob" Houston Taylor Sr., 75, of New Market, went to be with the Lord on Sunday while at home with his loving family. He was born on January 7, 1942 to John Houston Taylor and Ruth Jacks Taylor. Robert, known to his family and friends as Bob, was born in Huntsville, AL and lived in New Market, AL for most of his life.
Bob graduated from Columbia Military Academy in 1960. He then went on to Auburn University and graduated in 1964 with a chemical engineering degree. Bob held various jobs over the next few years including Monsanto, PPG, US Army Civil Service, Taylor Brothers Farm and Trucking Company, R and D Trucking and Texas Instruments. Bob has spent his last years doing what he loved most - owning and operating Upcreek Cattle Company.
While working for Texas Instruments, Bob met the love of his life, Rowena Appleton. They married in November 1986 and recently celebrated their 30th anniversary together.
Bob is survived by his wife, Rowena , along with sons, Bobby and Jeff Taylor and daughters Kristi Thielbar and Kathy Ratcliffe and their spouses. He is survived by 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Bob is also survived by brothers, Bill and Tom Taylor and sister, Laura Eickholt and their spouses along with numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
The family will be receiving friends on Thursday from 12 until 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2pm at the funeral home with Dr. Tommy Bolan officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Cemetery in New Market.
