In Loving Memory of Ruth Thomas Whitt
March 20, 1943 - April 17, 2025

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth Thomas Whitt, age 82, on April 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

In 1962, she married the love of her life, Ralph Whitt, with whom she shared 48 beautiful years. Together they managed and owned pizza restaurants. Her greatest joy was her family. She took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ruth is survived by two brothers, Earl Thomas, and Glenn (Joan) Thomas; her children Greg (Holly) Whitt, Gayle (Todd) Poplin, and Lori (Joel) Wiley; her grandchildren Laura (Zack), Drew, Kirsten (Blake), Logan (Seth), Sydney(Cole), Tessa (Jon) and Thomas (Madison); and 13 great grandchildren, Emily, Landon, and Luke Milligan, Evelyn, Cora, Whitt, and Wilson Moffatt, Max, Leo, and Gus Beaman, Eleanor, Katherine and Gwen Peyton. Also many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph and her brother Ellis Thomas. 

Ruth will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and love for family. 

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the caregivers (AnnaKay and Ann Marie) at Annette’s Home, LLC in Hazel Green for their compassionate care during Ruth’s final months.

Services will be held Saturday, April 19, at 12:00 PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Visitation will begin two hours before the service.
