Sarah Ashby Carter
November 21, 1939 — July 3, 2014
Sarah Ashby Carter, 74, of Toney, passed away on Thursday. She was born in Franklin County, Tennessee, was raised in the Hazel Green Community, and was a graduate of Hazel Green High School. Mrs. Carter had retired from the banking industry and was a faithful member of the Friendship Church of Christ. She was loved by all.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Glen (Ann) Ashby of New Hope, AL, Katherine (Jim) Morris of Montgomery, AL, Vera Cole of Hazel Green, AL, Frances (Ronald) Johnson of Hazel Green, AL, Danny (Mary) Ashby of Gurley, AL, and Robert Ashby of Ardmore, AL. She is also survived by several precious nieces and nephews, and a host of other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Ralph Carter; Her parents: William and Addie Mae Ashby; Her brother: Howard Ashby; Her sisters: Ruth Witt, Neda Witt, Sue Fitch, and Hilda Gilbert.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at Noon at the funeral home with Bro. Bill Cantrell officiating. Burial will then follow in Madison Cross Roads Cemetery.
