Shelby Douglas Watson

Shelby Douglas Watson ,  78 , of Hazel Green , Alabama  passed away November 4, 2024  at Vanderbilt Tullahoma-Harton Hospital  Tullahoma , Tennessee . He was born on May 15, 1946  in Huntland , Tennessee  to the late Ralph  and Jessie  (Cagle ) Watson .

Shelby loved a variety of activities including fishing, hunting, horseshoes, dominos and  ROOK. He was an expert Piddler as well as an expert shade tree mechanic.  As a young boy he worked on the farm in the cotton fields.  When he was 4 or 5 years old he worked with his grandfather logging. He was always busy and doing something.   Being the oldest of 8 children, Shelby often took responsibility of caring for his brothers and sisters. He was a Christian and would always make attempts at getting his siblings ready to go to church even when that task was difficult.

Shelby  is survived by 4 children, Shelby Lee (Deborah) Watson, Luci Watson (Ken) Buschard, Brandon Douglas Watson, Landon Lynn (Darla) Watson; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren; siblings Shela Taylor, Beverly O'Neal, Donna Christison, Dan Watson, Darleen Carter, and Rebecca May.

He was preceded in death by his parents as well as brother Thomas Samuel Watson,.

The family will receive friends at Hazel Green Funeral Home  on November 11, 2024  from 1:00PM  -  2:00PM  Funeral services will be at 2:00PM  on November 11, 2024  at Hazel Green Funeral Home  with Bruce Shockley officiating. Interment will be at Concord Cemetery .
