Sonja Gail Watkins

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sonja Gail Watkins of Hazel Green, AL, formerly of Slidell, LA, who left this world peacefully on September 4th, 2024.

Gail was a woman of extraordinary kindness and selflessness, who dedicated her life to caring for others, often placing their needs above her own. Her generosity knew no bounds, even to the point of financial sacrifice, and she was a quiet source of strength and compassion for all who knew her. She was a devoted wife to her loving husband, Billie Samuel Watkins Sr., and a cherished mother to her three children, Kevin Robert Watkins, Sonja Cherie Watkins, and Billie Samuel Watkins Jr. Gail was also a beloved sister to her brother, Max Y. Creel, and a guiding figure to her nephew, Max C. Creel, and his wife, Jennifer Creel, who had the privilege of being her primary caretakers in her final year.

Her spirit of kindness and her unwavering dedication to those she loved will remain an enduring legacy. She leaves behind a family who will forever be grateful for her love, wisdom, and the countless sacrifices she made for their well-being. Her absence will be deeply felt, but her love will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew her. May she rest in peace, knowing she lived a life full of love and compassion.
