Mr. Theo Moon, 66, of New Market, went to be with the Lord on Christmas morning while surrounded by his loving family.
He was a life-long resident of the Walnut Grove Community and attended Walnut Grove School, Hazel Green High School, and then graduated from Flintville High School in 1971. He then served in the United States Army until 1977 and had served in the Vietnam War. He retired from Redstone Arsenal where he worked for a number of years.
Theo's greatest loves in life were his wife, his son, and his grandchildren. He was a dedicated Christian and had been part of the Baptist church for most of his life, most recently, Bevill's Chapel Baptist Church. Theo was also a gifted piano player and loved gospel music, being outdoors, afternoon naps, yard sales, and flea markets.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Floyd & Dollie Jeanette Hyatt Moon; By his sisters, Sylvia Campbell and Glenda Irene Moon; His brothers, Terry Moon and Larry Moon.
Surviving family members include his wife of 48 years, Carolyn Moon; His son and daughter-in-law, Stanley Quentin & Terri Moon; His grandsons, Nicholas Moon and Noah Moon; His sisters, Mary Moon, Faye Malone, and Sue Wilbanks; His brothers, Dexter Moon, Cleo Moon, Leeo Moon, Kyle Moon, and Willie Bob Moon. He is also survived by his special friends and neighbors, the Dennis George family.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday at 2pm at the funeral home with Pastor Benny Berry officiating and with Dennis & Dustin George and the Sisk Sisters providing the music for the service. Burial with military honors will follow and will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery in New Market.
