Mr. Thomas Boyett, 91, of Hazel Green, passed away on Monday at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Boyett was a Christian and a faithful member of the Church of God of Prophecy since 1951. For the last 55 years, he was a member of the Hazel Green Church of God of Prophecy. He had served in the United States Army and was a World War II veteran. Together with his wife, Laura Bell Edge Boyett, they raised 12 children and farmed together for 34 years. He was later employed by the Madison County Commission District 5. He enjoyed life, especially time with his children, fishing, and rabbit hunting with his beagle hounds. He was well-respected and loved in the community as "Papa Tom" or "Uncle Tom."
Mr. Boyett was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Laura Bell Edge Boyett, by his daughter, Carolyn Boyett Bond, by his son, Richard Boyett, and by his parents, George and Emma Boyett. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Oscar (Irene), Willie Lee (Edna), and Hayden Boyett, and by his sisters, Mary Harbin (J.B.), Margaret "Tiny" (John Edge) Gardner, Lillie (Billy) Lanier, and Lila (Walter) Schrimsher, by his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Boyett, and by his sister-in-law, Mary Ruth Boyett. His great-grandchildren that preceded him in death were Kaitlyn Boyett and Hadassah Tucker.

Mr. Boyett is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 74 great-grandchildren and one more expected soon, 14 great-great grandchildren with two more expected soon. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many friends whom he loved.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 5 until 9pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday at 1pm at Hazel Green Church of God of Prophecy with Bishop Harold St.Clair and Rev. Steve Puckett officating. Burial with military honors will follow in Huntsville Memory Gardens. Mr. Boyett's body will lie in repose beginning an hour before the service.
