Tommie Catherine Travis

Tommie Catherine Travis of Hazel Green, Alabama died October 19, 2014 at Valley View Health & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 90. She was born May 18, 1924, the daughter of Thomas and Mattie (King) Whisenant.
Tommie, known to most as Catherine, was united in marriage to Clifford Simon Travis on December 24, 1955; he preceded her in death April 22, 1977. They have one son, Mark Wade Travis.
Catherine retired from the Hilton Hotel in Huntsville, Alabama. After retirement, she worked for the Perry Family taking care of their son, Caleb, whom she loved dearly.
Her pride and joy were her granddaughters Christy, Alysha, and Piper, and her great-granddaughter, Alexis. She always had a smile on her face and a gift in her hand whenever she saw them.
Catherine will be greatly missed by her family; her son, Mark and Kimberly (Cooper) Travis; granddaughters Christy (Travis) and Jeff Love; Alysha Brooke Travis, Piper Lauryn Travis; great-granddaughter Alexis Michaela Love; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Wonnie Ausline (Whisenant) Holt, Ronnie Mae Whisenant; and her brothers, Melvin Hubert Whisenant and W.D. Whisenant.
