William “Bill” Theron Haley, 76, of Fayetteville, Tennessee went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 9, 2016. He was a loving, kind, and generous husband, father, and grandfather. He was also a devoted friend to all who knew him well.
Bill was born May 19, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to John and Frances Haley. He graduated from Watertown High School in Watertown, Tennessee in 1958 and from Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tennessee in 1962 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
On June 8, 1962 he married the former Eleanor (Penny) Leffew in Cookeville. Bill was employed by the United States Army for 39 years as a civilian engineer at Redstone Arsenal until his retirement in 2001. He held numerous positions within the Product Assurance Division (PAD) of MICOM before finishing his career as Quality Engineering (QE) Division Chief for AMRDEC. He enjoyed working part-time as a defense contractor for an additional 9 years. He enjoyed traveling, boating, and camping. He especially enjoyed spending time with his immediate and extended family.
Bill is survived by his son, Don Haley and his wife, Angie; His daughter, Karen Schumann and her husband, Robert; Four grandchildren: Madison Haley, Haley Schumann, Matthew Haley, and John Schumann; and His sister Loretta Haley. He was preceded in death by his wife, Penny Haley in 2014.
1st visitation will be held Thursday (Oct 13) from 5PM to 8PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home, 13921 HWY 231-431 North, Hazel Green, Alabama.
2nd visitation will be held Friday (Oct 14) from 11AM to 12PM at Hazel Green United Methodist Church with a memorial service immediately following. Reverend Al Geise will be officiating.
3rd visitation will be held Saturday (Oct 15) from 11AM to 1PM at Hunter Funeral Home, 208 West Main Street, Watertown, Tennessee with a memorial service immediately following. Burial will follow at Hearn Hill Cemetery in Watertown.
