Celebration of life services for Evelyn Faye Ledbetter age 74 of Lacey’s Spring will be conducted Sunday 2 PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Bro. Jan Wilbourn officiating. Mrs. Ledbetter passed away Monday at the home of her son in Toney, Alabama She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carvel Wayne Ledbetter, her parents, James Odell and Myrtle Tripp Turner, one sister, Martha Jo Buchanan and two brothers, Lonnie Turner and Roy Turner.

She is survived by her children, Jerry Wayne and Melissa Ledbetter, Emily and Eric Bentley, Tonya Ledbetter and Darryl and Allison Ledbetter, one brother, James and Debbie Turner and three sisters, Peggy and Dwight Stephens, Shirley and Terry Rhodes and Emma and Randy Taymon, brother-in-law, James Buchanan, thirteen grandchildren, one great granddaughter and a host of loving family members and friends.

She was the oldest child, a second mom to so many.  She met the love of her life, the late Carvel Wayne Ledbetter, and they were married on May 29, 1965.  Together they spent 49 years, making wonderful memories with their family.  Her children and her grandchildren were her pride and joy.  Her role in the family was the most important thing to her.  Being with her family was what Evelyn enjoyed most of all.  If you spent time with her, when you were leaving, she would always say “what’s your hurry” and “ya’ll come back”.

The simplest pleasures in life brought the greatest joy to Evelyn.  One of the things she loved the most was gardening and working in her yard.  She took great pride in her flowers.  She also enjoyed making quilts and sewing.  She made the best cornbread and chicken and dumplings in the whole wide world.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the nurses and caretakers at Hospice of North Alabama for the love and care shown to the family in their time of need.

Visitation will be Sunday 12-2PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home with the celebration of life service at 2:00.
