Margaret Kennedy Smith, 90, of Ardmore, Tennessee, passed away on Friday at her home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Salem, Tennessee in a two-room log cabin. She later became a resident of Lincoln County. Before beginning her career at Redstone Arsenal, she was the valedictorian of her high school class, worked with her husband on the farm, and was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active member of Cash Point Baptist Church and was part of the Friends of the Library at Ardmore Library.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Smith, by her daughter, Patsy Ricard Smith, and by her son, Larry David Smith; She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Veronica Keem, Oseline Gamble, Sybil Burdette, Mary Taylor, Johnnie Rowell, Jack Kennedy, and Raymond "Ray" Kennedy, Jr
Surviving family members include her grandsons, Michael David Smith and Mark Larry Smith; Her great-grandsons: David Smith, Christopher Smith, Colton Smith, and Austin Smith. She is also survived by her brother, Bryan Kennedy.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday beginning at 10am at Cash Point Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 11am at the church with Pastor Derrick Moose officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cash Point Baptist Church.
